"And I have never known defeat."
Empyrean demigod, undefeated swordfighter, and bearer of the Scarlet Rot curse. Explore the tragic chronicle of the Blade of Miquella.

Born of a single god—Queen Marika and her male counterpart Radagon—Malenia and her twin brother Miquella were Empyreans, chosen to succeed as vessels of the Elden Ring. Yet, their birth was cursed. Miquella was cursed with eternal childhood; Malenia was cursed with the Scarlet Rot, an outer god's decay eating her from within.
Despite the rot devouring her body, Malenia grew to possess an unyielding spirit. She trained under a blind swordsman who sealed away the rot, mastering the flowing blade that would make her the most feared combatant in the Lands Between.

With prosthetic gold replacing her lost arm and legs, Malenia swore herself to her brother's dream. Miquella sought to build the Haligtree—a haven for the unloved and cursed, watered by his own blood—as an alternative to the Golden Order, promising to cure Malenia's rot.
In return, Malenia became Miquella's blade. She led a cleanrot legion across the Lands Between, undefeated in battle, protecting Miquella's fragile cocoon. Her gold-plated armor and long flowing prosthetic sword became symbols of peerless skill, unmatched precision, and absolute dedication.

Sent south to wage war against Starscourge Radahn, Malenia led her Cleanrot Knights to the swampy fields of Caelid. The battle was a terrible stalemate; two demigods of unmatched power locked in mortal combat, neither able to yield.
To match Radahn's gravity power, Malenia broke her gold needle and abandoned her pride. She unleashed the Scarlet Rot slumbering within, blooming into a giant scarlet flower. The toxic explosion mutated Caelid into a red wasteland, driving Radahn mad and leaving Malenia comatose.

Awakening at Elphael, Brace of the Haligtree, Malenia awaits Miquella's return, oblivious that her brother has been stolen away by Mohg, Lord of Blood. Her slumber is heavy, her sanity cracked by the rot she unleashed in Caelid. She defends the tree's core with fierce desperation.
When challenged by the Tarnished, the final threshold is crossed. Defeated in her physical form, she blooms a second time, shedding her armor and rising as the Goddess of Rot—a winged avatar of decay, beautiful and terrifying, embodying the complete power of the Outer God.
